Shang Gao: I obtained a variety of new lab skills related to microbial research at the molecular level
It is a pleasure to have had the opportunity to conduct my research practice in the laboratory of nematology. My project focused on studying the effect of intercropping and crop identity on soil microbes, as indicated by microbial abundance. I obtained a variety of new lab skills related to microbial research at the molecular level and acquired a deeper insight into achieving sustainable agriculture.
I was impressed by the pleasant atmosphere during in the department. The technicians were always willing to help with difficulties in the lab, as were the postdocs, PhD fellows, and students. They consistently provided constructive advices on my writing and future careers. I expended my vision in the field of ecology, agriculture, and microbes; and was promoted to pursue a further understanding on these topic in the future through the nice discussion I had.
In short, I gained valuable knowledge, skills, and delightful experience for the past 4 months in the laboratory of nematology. I am grateful to complete the last chapter of my master program here in nematology, and have the chance to meet all of the wonderful people who contributed to my growth and learning.
