Katarzyna Cieslik is a postdoctoral researcher at the Wageningen University and Research Center. Her research focuses on development innovation in the context of Sub-Saharan Africa. In particular, she is interested in agency, entrepreneurship and civic potency of individuals in addressing the pressing development challenges.
Katarzyna is currently working on the EVOCA project: Responsible Life-Sciences Innovations for Development in the Digital Age: Environmental Virtual Observatories for Connective Action www.evoca.nl. The project builds upon launching five farmer-led environmental virtual observatories in four African countries. These ICT-based virtual platforms enable the users to share environmental information (e.g. water levels, spread of plant pests, malaria vector densities etc.) across media networks, facilitating connective action among dissociated populations. In her most recent research work, Katarzyna analyses the systemic conditions for the successful embedding of such innovations in agrarian contexts.
