Challenge-based learning brings students together to solve real societal problems through hands-on projects. It builds skills, networks, and innovation beyond the classroom. Our role is to design challenges with partners and provide coaching and platforms to bring solutions to life.

Overview upcoming EWUU challenges 2026

Da Vinci challenge

The Da Vinci Programme organised by EWUU brings students together to solve sustainability challenges through interdisciplinary, real-world collaboration.

  • Who: Master's students.
  • Date: Starts on 2 February. The short track ends on 10 April, the long track ends on 3 July.
  • Location: Hybrid and at the partner’s site.

Sustainable Future Dairy Farming Systems

In this challenge organised by EWUU, interdisciplinary student teams work with the industry on future-proof, animal-friendly dairy farming.

  • Who: 3rd year Bachelor's students and Master students.
  • Date: 9 February until 8 March.
  • Location: Hybrid with four live events at different locations.

Bio-Tech-Med Nutrition Interdisciplinary Team Training (BITT)

In this challenge organised by EWUU, students create patient-centred health solutions in an interdisciplinary student team.

  • Who: Master's students.
  • Date: 12 February until 31 March.
  • Location: Hybrid with five live meetings at one of the institute’s locations

Inter-University Sustainability Challenge (IUSC)

Global, interdisciplinary teams create innovative solutions to drive sustainable change on future campuses, in this challenge organised by EWUU.

  • Who: 2nd and 3rd year Bachelor's students.
  • Date: 22 April until 19 June.
  • Location: Hybrid with two live events at one of the institute’s locations.
