New funding for 'Improving agricultural education in Afghanistan'-project
Just before the onset of winter the Dutch embassy in Kabul awarded an additional € 2,9 million to the Improving Agricultural Education in Afghanistan; or ATVET project.
This raises the total project budget, until the end of 2021, to €26,5 million. These extra millions allow the project to expand its leading role in agricultural vocational education. It enhances research ways to promote cooperation between agricultural education and agricultural extension at the district level, as well as transform NAEC (the teacher training college set up by the project) into a fully-fledged university of applied science.
Visit of DGIS-deputy general Tazelaar
As winter really descended on Kabul, on 8 January Brigitta Tazelaar, deputy director general of DGIS along with colleagues from both the embassy and headquarters in The Hague, visited NAEC. Mrs. Tazelaar spoke with staff as well as students and graduates of NAEC. She expressed her appreciation for what has been achieved, and reconfirmed DGIS’ commitment to Wageningen University & Research activities in Afghanistan.
