Education of Soil Geography and Landscape

We aim to educate responsible change-makers by stimulating students to understand soil and landscape systems in a spatial and temporal context. To achieve this, we often take students out to the field so they can experience soils and landscapes themselves. In many courses later in the curriculum we combine this with quantitative approaches, often including modelling in a spatial and temporal context or laboratory analyses.

We take responsibility for a broad range of BSc and MSc courses in several environmental science programs, many of these courses contribute to the Earth System Sciences program (BSW BSc Soil Water Atmosphere and MEE MSc Earth and Environment). As a chairgroup we are responsible for the MEE D specialization ‘Soil Geography and Earth Surface Dynamics’, and offer thesis opportunities for MSc students in this specialisation.
