Intensive winter course Social Dutch I (online) NIET GEBRUIKEN
Are you an international student at Wageningen University & Research? Would you like to speak Dutch with your fellow students and your teachers or carry on a basic conversation with your neighbours? Then our online Social Dutch courses are just the thing for you!
This course is taught entirely online using the Virtual Classroom in Brightspace.
No prior knowledge of Dutch is needed for this course. This course is suitable for students who want to learn Dutch for social purposes
Entry level: A0 (CEFR)
Final level: halfway to A1
The course’s main objective is to learn to speak in Dutch. You will learn how to introduce yourself, exchange personal information, order in cafés and restaurants, buy and pay in shops, make appointments, as well as forms of address, formal versus informal use of the language, information on transportation and typical Dutch culture. Grammar is secondary to speaking and vocabulary building. Only basic grammar will be treated, such as the main sentence structure and the conjugation of verbs in the present and past tense.
The online intensive winter course Social Dutch 1 runs for 2 weeks. The group meets ones a day for 2 hours and 15 minutes in the 'virtual classroom'. Participants should expect to spend 25 hours in total on homework.

After the course you will receive a certificate from Wageningen in’to Languages, provided you have attended at least 80% of the classes.

The courses Social Dutch 1 & 2 are part of the Pilot free courses Social Dutch for students. These are free for Master's and Bachelor's students who have attended 80% of the lessons (12 of the 15). It this requirement has not been fullfilled, the student will receive an invoice for the course fee at the end of the course.
