Over ATP & GDP Qualification tests

About the service

Cold-chain operators are increasingly focusing on improving the sustainability, energy efficiency and reliability of temperature-controlled transport. To ensure safe distribution of food, pharmaceuticals and active ingredients, transport equipment must meet strict European standards.

Food & Biobased Research offers a broad range of ATP and GDP qualification tests, performed in a unique conditioned test facility designed for all types of refrigerated transport systems. Wageningen carries out RvA accredited K-value and refrigeration capacity tests (single and multi-compartment), according to ISO/IEC 17025:2017 (Dutch Accreditation Council (RvA), registration number L679). Customers receive a detailed test report that can be used to apply for ATP certification at any qualified EU institution.

For the pharmaceutical sector, Wageningen conducts GDP qualification tests to verify that equipment can maintain the required temperature range—especially the critical 2–8 °C chilled range—under realistic operating conditions, including summer/winter climates, power failure scenarios and door-opening situations.
