The TKI-Funded RESTRUCTURE project held its annual Steering Committee meeting at the end of November in OMNIA, on the WUR Campus. The meeting brings together the core-research team for the RESTRUCTURE randomised controlled trial (RCT) to discuss the approach and design of the trial and have feedback from a panel of leading international experts in nutrition and eating behaviour.

The RCT will test the sustained impact of food texture and eating rate on energy intake from diets that are classified as 'ultra-processed' based on the NOVA classification. The steering committee brings together global leaders in eating behaviour and nutrition research including Prof. Remco Havermans (Maastricht University, NL). Prof. Barbara Rolls (Penn State University, USA) and Dr. Dave Mela (Independ Nutrition Consultant, NL) to advise on aspects of the study design for the randomised controlled trial which is scheduled to commence in 2023. The RESTRUCTURE project is a co-financed by TKI Agri & Food, a Dutch funding scheme for public-private partnerships which contributes to the Dutch government’s mission to guide consumers to make healthy food choices (Mission D, MMIP D2, TKI) and increase the supply of healthier foods by the food industry by through the promotion of healthier eating behaviours
