Agrosystems Research
Agrosystems Research is based on agroecology, which refers to an integrated perspective on agronomic systems and land use. We understand the soil-crop-environment continuum at both the process level and the ecosystem level. We do this by means of experimental design and computer modelling, on-farm testing and implementation in interaction with stakeholders. Our goal is to improve sustainable agriculture, food security and efficient use of resources.
Biointeractions & Plant Health
The experts of Biointeractions & Plant Health study harmful and beneficial viruses, bacteria, fungi and insects and analyze their effect on the health of plants and soils. We detect pests and diseases, we study the health of bees and develop building blocks for Integrated Pest Management.
Biometris
The experts of Biometris develop statistical and mathematical methods for the quantification of biological processes and processes in our living environment. We work from gene to ecosystem, and from product to production chain. We bring quantitative methods to life!

Greenhouse Horticulture
The business unit Greenhouse Horticulture is contributing to a completely sustainable and profitable sector that is fossil-free, has closed the water cycle, aims at circular use of raw materials and uses minimal amounts of chemical crop protection products.
Field Crops
The business unit Field Crops contributes to (applicable) innovations, in arable farming, field production of vegetables and green space for the private and public sector, both national and international. On our test facilities, we work independently and with academic integrity.
Plant Breeding
Our experts at Plant Breeding unravel mechanisms behind and genetics of important traits of crops. This helps both in research as well as in practical plant breeding, enabling the design of crops which are more tolerant against drought or resistant to insects.
