Protein production and consumption shifts must go hand-in-hand. In addition to stimulating cross-supply-chain collaboration, it is essential that private sector actors and policymakers collaborate to understand the drivers behind food choice. For example, despite increasing consumption of plant-based alternatives consumption of animal-sourced foods remains high in nearly all high-income countries. A further priority is understanding the protein requirements of at-risk populations and even personal needs. Achieving the transition requires an alignment of actors and engagement is a top priority in this theme.
