Circular food systems fish aquaculture in North Africa
As the concept of circular agriculture is increasingly adopted, question arise on the relevance of this concept for other food systems. In various projects (including KB), the role of marine lower trophic species (seaweed, shellfish) in a circular food system is discussed. Little attention has been given to fish aquaculture - raising the question if and how the principles of circularity are adoptable to fish aquaculture.
The project explores the following: can the currently develop principles for circular agriculture be used, if after altering them, for fish aquaculture and how would that impact on existing production processes. The project focusses on Northern Africa.
