This summer, several maintenance projects will take place in the Forum building and the Library. The improvements ensure that Forum remains a welcoming and future-proof place to study, work & meet.

We are using the quieter summer period to carry out this work. We aim to keep the disruption for students and staff to a minimum. However, there may be some inconvenience during this period. Read the full article for more information about how the work may impact your visit to the Library. Thank you for your understanding!

Replacement of the mobile network

From Monday, 13 to Friday, 17 July, the mobile network in part C of the Forum building will be replaced. There is no Wi-Fi available in the public area of the Forum Library. The 3rd and 4th floors of the Library will be closed. The 2nd floor is open. You can use the fixed PCs to access the WUR network, or you can use the guest PCs with internet access.

Replacement glass dome

The glass panels in the glass roof dome will be replaced from Monday, 20 to Friday, 24 July. To ensure safety, the Forum Library and Special Collections are closed this week.

You can request books from the open shelves and stacks through WUR Library Search. After receiving a pick-up notification, you can collect your requested and reserved books from the Pick up & Go desk from 12:00 to 14:00, located in the In'to Languages’ office, next to the main entrance of the Library. If you are a staff member, requested books can also be sent directly to your office.
Note that If bad weather is expected, the work will take place a week later, from 27 to 31 July, and the Library will be open from 20 to 24 July.

Replacement of the fixed network

From Monday, 20 July to Friday, 28 August, the wired network in the Forum building, including the Library, will be replaced. Wi-Fi will work, but MFCs, coffee machines and lockers can occasionally malfunction, because these devices use the fixed network.

During these weeks (except week 30), the Library will be open on all floors on weekdays from 8.00 to 18.00. Please allow some noise disturbance. The Special Collections reading room is open from Monday to Thursday from 9:00 to 13:00.

Work at the transformer station (electricity)

On 5 August, the Forum building is closed because of electricity maintenance work.

From Monday, 31 August, the Forum Library and Special Collections will be open again according to our regular hours.
