WUR Library at a glance
WUR Library is the centre of expertise for scientific information services at Wageningen University & Research. We build and provide reliable technical infrastructures and services that enable the WUR community to efficiently access & manage, and openly share scientific information.
Our role and tasks
Our role is to provide staff and students with access to scientific information. We also help them to publish and share their research output and provide the technical infrastructure for the long-term preservation of scientific information.
We support students and staff in their use of information sources by providing training, skills development and individual support. We offer students and guests a pleasant, welcoming, and well-equipped study environment in the Forum Library.
Please take a look at the visual below for an overview of our core tasks, or read the Multi-annual strategy & planning WUR Library 2024-2028.

Our organisation
Our team of 60 staff members offers trusted and high-quality support for both education and research at WUR. We have the following subteams:
Education support
The front office staff are the first point of contact for students in the Library. They help create a welcoming learning environment and support students in their search for information.
The Library's Education Support team teaches information literacy in most Bachelor's programmes and has developed a comprehensive curriculum on 21st-century information skills. The team also encourages and supports teachers in sharing and managing online educational materials.
Research Support
The Research Support team supports researchers during every stage of their research. The assistance offered ranges from systematic literature reviews, impact assessment & citation analysis, open access publishing and research data management. The team Research Information & Intelligence Services is responsible for monitoring research performance & publishing, registering research information (including research data), metrics, analyses, rankings, and visitations.
MDT Library
The MDT Library is responsible for up-to-date digital library tooling and (cloud-based) library services with optimal integration within the WUR digital environment. We build, maintain and support domain-specific lean services in close cooperation with the IT department and the Library's stakeholders.
Collections
The Collections team is responsible for providing, developing and curating scientific information collections. We have transformed into an almost fully digital library; new acquisitions of books and journals are digital-only. The Library also has a national responsibility in maintaining a huge print collection focused on agriculture and related topics in the Netherlands. The latter will increasingly change towards an archive. In addition to our collections of externally produced scientific knowledge, the library also maintains collections of internally produced knowledge such as PhD theses, student output, research information, data repositories and educational materials.
